Greene Lamp is an AmeriCorps Seniors Grantee and receive funds from the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS)

The AmeriCorps Seniors Senior Companion Program (SCP) focuses on providing assistance and companionship to older adults who have difficulty with daily living tasks, such as shopping or paying bills. Through this program, AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers keep seniors independent longer and provide respite to family caregivers. AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers report better health and longevity having served their community.

Greene Lamp became an AmeriCorps Senior Senior Companion Program Grantee in June 2024 and intends to enroll approximately 40 senior volunteers to provide companionship to older adults in Duplin, Greene and Martin Counties, respectively. The AmeriCorps Seniors SCP is open to volunteers age 55 and over who can serve between 10-40 hours per week. Additionally, the volunteer must be willing to abide by the SCP requirements. Volunteers do not need formal experience as extensive orientation and on-going training will be provided! As a reminder, the program may offer a tax-free hourly stipend for income eligible volunteers. For more information, please visit Greene Lamp Community Action at 309 Summit Ave. Kinston, NC, or call 252-523-7770 ext. 101 or ext. 329. We look forward to you joining our team!
